London Fashion Week 2012

HURRAH it’s here again! Fashionistas and FROWers are descending as designers showcase what we will all be wearing come September; its only day three and already there is many-a-new trend emerging from runways dotted all over the capital.

Caramel Hues  From Bora Aksu showcasing power peplums in delicious mocha, to Sass and Bide’s futuristic champagne body con dresses; creamy caramel colours were seen everywhere and topping the bunch were Mulberry. Throughout their collection we saw this burnt sugar palette. Set against these colours, textures contrasted, as buttery leather skirts were paired with long-haired goat fur. The standout piece being this utterly shag-tastic Mongolian fur coat. Oh it’s just perfect.

The Lady is a Vamp  Marios Schwab created the ultimate femme-fatale for A/W12 by looking back to Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich. Sent down the runway – with cloche hats a plenty – were figure hugging day dresses, elbow length gloves and streamlined silhouettes, which Schwab made provocative through his use of daring lace inserts. His show culminated with dresses which revealed and concealed, encapsulating the collection. His tantalisingly jewelled and ultra sheer ball gowns fit to grace many a red carpet.

Tsarina  At Issa and Temperley, it was all about the Russian princess, sumptuous colours, extreme jewels and decadent swathes of materials. Temperley’s runway featured jacquard, velvet and luxurious embellished evening gowns mingled with plainer silk Lanvin-ish gowns  – think Catherine the Great style opulence. Issa’s ‘Trans-Siberian Express’ show was more seasonable as cossack fur hats, dramatic capes and cashmere military coats ruled the runway.

Electric Lips   Moschino you absolute beaut, this is possibly the funnest thing I’ve seen since Friday! Behold the ‘Glitter Kiss’. Amazing? Yes. Wearable? Not so much. Dubbed the ‘fajazzle’, oh how I wish I coined this phrase, it is THE new way to wear glitter!

A Micro-Trend from Moschino
